Caltanissetta InfoPoint

2 Minutes of reading

In the heart of the historic center, right next to the entrance to Palazzo del Carmine—the Town Hall—the Pro Loco Caltanissetta InfoPoint welcomes visitors.

The InfoPoint is the first stop to discover the city’s authentic face, spanning Baroque art, archaeology, and folk traditions. Run by the expert, passionate volunteers of the Pro Loco Caltanissetta APS association, the service greets visitors every day, Monday to Sunday, from 09:00–13:00 and 16:00–20:00, offering themed maps, bilingual brochures, and personalized advice on walking or vehicle itineraries to explore the Nisseno area and the province, and connecting visitors with other local organizations, regional tour guides, and other Pro Loco associations. Opened in 2015 as one of the most technologically advanced IAT Tourist Information Centers in southern Italy, today it is a reference point for booking guided tours and educational workshops; it promotes local events, from the patronal feast of Saint Michael the Archangel to Holy Week and tastings of typical local products. Pro Loco Caltanissetta also makes available to tourists all the other sites managed by its volunteers, such as the Crypt of the Church of San Domenico and Palazzo Moncada with its Civic Art Gallery.
Inside, the InfoPoint also hosts a library with volumes on Caltanissetta and its heritage, as well as novels and books of various kinds, donated by anyone wishing to contribute to the library’s growth.
