Palazzo delle Poste

Built between 1920 and 1937 to the design of engineer Giovanni La Rosa, the former Post Office Building of Caltanissetta is an excellent example of rationalist architecture applied to a public building.

Located at the entrance to the historic center, the complex develops over three levels, with a rusticated stone base and upper floors marked by large rectangular windows framed by light-colored stone blocks, creating a play of solids and voids that emphasizes both functionality and modernity. Inside, the main stamping hall has been preserved, featuring Carrara marble counters and original brass lamps restored in 2003, while the service corridors and upper offices retain wooden and wrought-iron furnishings from the period.
Today, though adapted to the needs of digital technology and now housing a major credit institution, the former Post Office remains a symbol of the era of analog communications, attracting tourists and architecture enthusiasts to discover how the rationalist style harmoniously dialogues with the city’s Baroque fabric.
