Chiesa Santa Maria del Rosario in Sabucina

Built in 1938 in characteristic local stone at the will of Knight Giuseppe Giordano, then owner of the estate, it immediately became a spiritual center of the community and a venue for catechesis and cultural events linked to Nissena traditions. In 1954 the small church was donated to the Episcopal Curia and consecrated as a parish by His Excellency Monsignor Giovanni Iacono, marking the beginning of intense pastoral and recreational activity with the establishment of elementary schools and spiritual meetings.

The restoration work of 1958, financed by the Region, led to the construction of the bell tower, the baptismal font, and the raising of the rectory, enriching the building with new forms and spaces dedicated to community life. Inside, the apse houses a wooden statue of Our Lady of the Rosary, a work by renowned sculptors from Ortisei, which arrived in Sicily after a long journey to replace the previous painting dedicated to the Virgin. The tabernacle in fine Custonaci marble and the mosaics created between 1964 and 1972, designed by surveyor Francesco Grazia and funded by donations from the Aira and Giglio families, further embellish the interior, giving the environment a solemn and intimate atmosphere.
