Set amid the countryside around Delia, this route is perfect for discovering its extraordinary side.

Starting from the town of Delia by the murals on Via Diaz, after just 600 m—looking west—you can take in the Castellaccio of Delia rising on a hill to dominate the valley. The path continues among typical dry-stone walls and scattered ruins, leading your gaze toward a vast expanse of “green velvet.” As you go on, you’ll walk through the fresh, fragrant peach orchards that characterize these lands, surrounded by a sea of rolling hills—especially striking during the golden hour. About halfway along, the remains of the Afflitto necropolis lie above the sweep of orchards, adding another layer to this pleasant walk.

The itinerary lets you savor the origin of these distinctive features and observe the roots and vigorous growth that so enrich this territory. Remember that the “Pesca di Delia” is a Sicilian excellence recognized worldwide for its unique characteristics, quality, and bond with its production area. The PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) label highlights their high sugar content and creamy texture, due to the area’s specific soil-and-climate conditions—particularly the combination of climate, fertile soils, and the expertise of local farmers with their specific cultivation techniques. The PGI mark protects this distinctiveness, ensuring consumers a product of the highest quality. The loop ends by heading back up the SP3 toward the town and the starting point—perhaps in search of an exceptional tasting!
