This itinerary is a true excursion that lets you discover the landscapes and nature that characterize the territory of San Cataldo.

Start at the Apaforte Mine and follow the trail laid out to the north and then west, crossing a splendid conifer wood accompanied by Mediterranean scrub and other plants typical of rural areas, such as mandrake. Look out for the many species of wild orchids, especially in spring. Leaving the wood, turn left and cross the Stincone stream. From here, head left and climb north with a series of switchbacks that cut across the SP37. Keep straight on: on the left you’ll find the geosites of the Bosco mine and the San Cataldo mine; to the right, the itinerary continues for almost 3 km until you reach the SP33. Go straight on here to the junction for the hamlet of Palo on the left, with its adjoining mine. Continue on this road for almost 2 km, where the scant asphalt disappears completely and the road bends sharply to the right—keep right. You will reach your destination in a few meters.
