Gorge of the Salso River (Li Zubbii)

A few kilometers from Delia, in the Gebbiarossa-Grastilla district, not far from the entrance to the historic mine, lies a locality called Zubbii.

It is a dialect term that indicates a tectonic depression, that is, a sinkhole. It appears as a deep fissure between imposing gypsum walls, offering a landscape of extraordinary beauty and biodiversity. In the past, the waters of the sinkhole were used to power the watermills of Sommatino.
