Palazzo delle Poste

1 Minute of reading

In 1920, the 17th-century Church of Saint Antonino, located in Piazza Marconi, was demolished to make way for the new Post Office building.

In fact, the church had been unused since 1866, when, following the suppression of religious orders, it had been converted into a military warehouse and had fallen into serious disrepair.

The new building was completed in 1937, when the painter L. Morici was commissioned to decorate its walls and ceilings with frescoes. The construction, in eclectic style, retains the unmistakable imprint of the art of the Fascist period, especially evident in the decorative elements of the interior spaces. Today, it houses a banking institution.
