From October 24 to 26, 2025, the elegant setting of Palazzo Moncada in Caltanissetta will host the Embroidery and Sicilian Lace Festival, an event entirely devoted to the artisanal tradition of “handmade,” celebrating threads, patterns, and creativity.
The event, sponsored by the Municipality of Caltanissetta, the Lady Anna – Grandma’s Embroidery Association, the Sicilian Region, Pro Loco Caltanissetta, and Confartigianato Imprese, was conceived by embroiderer and lace-maker Maria Anna Bonaffini from Caltanissetta. She is a prominent figure in the national and international embroidery scene, with a wealth of experience and awards, as well as the talent of her young students.
During the three days of the festival, the public will be able to enjoy:
- Creative workshops for adults and children
- Thematic workshops on embroidery and lace techniques
- An exhibition of works from the “Ricamiamo Giocando” project
- A display of artisan stands and the evocative “hanging sheets,” curated by architect Silvia Capiluppi
- A technical seminar dedicated to various lace techniques, with a special focus on crochet
- A fashion show featuring creations made by Bonaffini’s students
A unique opportunity to rediscover and enhance the art of Sicilian embroidery and lace, blending tradition, innovation, and passion.
